I've been flying the AXN Floater Jet for the last week or so, first stock, but didn't like it much as it lacked speed and agility, but for the casual FPV flyer, the type that doesn't fly under bridges, through trees etc. she's just fine with the stock configuration.
I've done quite a few mods on it to make it fly well (to my standards), here's a brief list and some pictures to illustrate things.
- flattened the wings with 8x0.6mm CF strip (cut a slot, glued it in)
- beefed up the rear with a 8x0.6mm CF strip (cut a slot, glued it in)
- replaced the servos with a beefier and faster type
- replaced motor with a Mega 16/15/4 driving a APC-E 6x4 prop (I want a bit of speed)
- made room in the fuselage to house a 3S/2200 lipo
- made a camera mount (magnetic) that sits over the lipo
- cut a hole in the canopy for the camera
- added the transmitter on top of the fuselage
- double weave glassfiber tape to tape down control surfaces
- removed butt ugly (sorry!) stickers
- glassed the underside with WBPU
Cheers,
Sander.
